I think it is safe to say that the winter waters has reached our shores with water temperatures ranging between 14 & 9 degrees with 5 to 8m viz on our last couple of dives. Our last dive was at "caves" opposite Kabeljous and once again the fish life was incredible. Photos have been uploaded on our website. With the colder waters it was a great time to test the new Xcel range of wetsuits, booties and gloves and it's great to have softgear that suits our water temperatures and you can get all of these online from our shop now!
Our next planned launches from the JBay main beach are on 19 & 20 May and then again on the 2nd & 3rd of June. Please note the following: You need to pre book any dives by either booking online on our website, via email, sms or at the JBay Info office. Only payments via EFT or cash on the day before your dive will be accepted as we no longer run an account system. You can also purchase a dive package for 7 dives. Due to the new fuel price we had to increase our dive prices and pricing can be viewed at the equipment services menu on our website.
From 15 to 17 June it's the annual Noordhoek dive fest. Dives can be pre booked on their website www.nsbcpe.co.za or on the day and proceeds go to Sea Rescue and various other beneficiaries. We will have our boat and a stand at the dive fest where you can view the full range of Xcel soft gear, Oceanic hard gear, equipment & cylinder rentals and for the first time on site Air Fills.
Anyone looking for good previously loved equipment can also view what is available on our website. A few cameras with underwater housings, bcd's and regulator sets are now available at affordable prices. It just feels better to dive with your own equipment!
We are awaiting the annual sardine run and dives and ocean trips are planned for this. For more info please send us an email. Project AWARE Coral Reef monitoring is still ongoing and if you would like to participate and help gather data regarding coral bleaching and the effects of global warming note that on the 1st of June another presentation will be given during our club night at the JBay ski boat club from 18:00. Bring your friends and support our local dive club!
